Fall Layers

There is nothing more that I love than layering. Layering adds a preppy and polished look. Even in the colder temperatures, when I layer my clothing I  still have the option of whether or not I want to wear a jacket, while it is not needed. Since this weather has been having mood swings (a.k.a warm one day, freezing the next) it has been difficult to find a balance between bundling up and bracing the cold or wearing thinner shirts or sweaters with a light jacket.

For this fall outfit, I wore a chambray shirt, a cable knit sweater on top, and a puffy vest. I thought it would've been nice to wear a boot with a small heel to elevate the look. Since I am tall, as you can imagine, I was probably about 6'2 with these boots on. Walking around campus all day, looking taller than usual calls for some more stares. LOL. I had five classes the day I wore this outfit, so by the third class I needed to change into flats.  I have so much respect for women who wear heels all day. These might not have been high but I still didn't last all day in them... I guess I need more practice walking in heels.

Blue and Black

It has been one crazy week to say the least, but I have survived! The weather here in Connecticut has quickly moved from fall, sweater weather, to pulling out the parkas! When I shot this OOTD, it was literally 48 ºF.

For this look I am wearing an oversized Levi's vest, a knit sweater, skinny jeans, and my favorite new purchase, these Hush Puppies boots. When I saw them I could not believe that they were Hush Puppies. They are sooooo comfortable and super cute, especially with the tassels on the laces. There is also a good range of colors to suit your personal style! I chose black, what a surprise! I definitely recommend these, I am sure you would be just as happy with your purchase as I am!

*Hush Puppies did not ask me to talk about their shoes or even sponsor this post, I just wanted to share with you my new comfortable discoveries.

Fall Vest

Crisp air, crunchy leaves, some of my favorite characteristics of fall. The vest that I am wearing is by far my favorite one that I own. It is nice and long, has a fur lining, and is very fall appropriate. I love how this simple vest transformed an everyday sweater and jeans look to one that is more polished and put together. Of course I had to add a pop of color with my scarf!

You may have noticed by now that vest's are my favorite pieces to wear, especially now that it is getting colder. It is always nice to have an extra stylish layer!

This particular vest is long! I am 5'11, and it made me look like I was wearing nothing but the vest from behind when I tried it on with a knit dress. For those of you that may be shorter, I definitely recommend a version that may not be as long. If you prefer your vest to be long, go for it!

I couldn't help myself, I had to throw the leaves in the air at least once...Fall tradition right?

Olive Green Vest

In my last post, I was wearing a Utilitarian Jacket. Among the details of my outfit, I included a really affordable vest. Today I am wearing it. This is a vest that I bought from Target. Yes, Target! I was so amazed by this vest because it looks more J.Crew to me. I guess I should go to Target more often!

I love going to stores and finding hidden gems that are also versatile. I will say that my style is preppy, but I certainly am not afraid to take risks. The outfit I am wearing is my favorite for fall. crisp button down shirt, vestbooties, and jeans scream New England.

Do you see that beautiful highlight on my cheekbone?! I am obsessed with Becca Cosmetics x Jaclyn Hill highlight in Champagne Pop! It is absolutely stunning and adds such a beautiful and healthy looking glow to the skin. I just can't get enough.

Utilitarian Jacket

I have an urge to buy clothing that are military inspired. Once I saw this jacket, it was love at first sight. I bought it over the summer and I have been patiently waiting to wear it. Finally the day has come. The reward is always sweeter when you wait!

I love the way this jacket elevates the simple jean and boots look by adding character. This type of jacket truly is a great investment piece. There are other ways to incorporate military inspired pieces to your look, such as wearing an olive green twill vest.
